At least one prominent person caught up in the Obama administration’s “unmasking” effort — American businessman Erik Prince — is calling on U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions to launch a formal investigation into the Obama administration’s “incidental” surveillance of Americans who met with foreign officials. Prince told The Daily Caller News Foundation in an exclusive interview that he wants Sessions to launch a formal investigation into his case, where Obama administration officials “unmasked” him and later leaked what he called false information to the news media. The businessman said a…

Populists Set To Be Part Of Austria’s Next Government

Polls suggest that Austria’s populist Freedom Party will be part of the country’s next government after Sunday’s general election. The Freedom Party is currently second in polls with around 25 percent support. The conservative People’s Party leads with 33 percent, and the two are expected to join forces after the election. The Freedom Party last entered government in 2000. The party’s reputation of being an anti-immigrant party with a racist agenda led several European Union countries to threaten sanctions against Austria over the party’s role in the government. After a…

Pay to prey: Weinstein’s contract basically allowed for sexual harassment — so long as he paid the company

Even if you’re not a legal eagle, you may at some point in your life have encountered the term “moral turpitude” when signing a contract. Employers will sometimes stick that phrase into the section dealing with termination for cause, for understandable reasons. The idea is that if you do something morally egregious, something that offends the sensibilities of the organization or brings it into public disrepute, you can be canned summarily. Your boss is under no obligation to keep an embarrassing degenerate on the payroll. A moral turpitude clause would…

Menendez bribery charges in jeopardy?

Are you ready for Robert Menendez’ triumphal return to the US Senate? His corruption trial took an awkward turn yesterday, as comments from the federal judge hint that the prosecution may be in trouble. After prosecutors finished their case with a rehash of the FBI investigator’s testimony, Menendez attorney Abbe Lowell filed the expected motion to dismiss — and Judge William Walls seemed open to the suggestion. As Nick Corasaniti reports for the New York Times, the key will be how broadly Walls interprets the McDonnell decision from last year: Judge Walls…

Harvey Weinstein Would Deliver Movies Straight To Hillary Clinton

Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein was so close with former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton that he would deliver movies to Clinton, who described Weinstein as “so sweet” to one of her aides. Emails from Clinton’s time at the State Department reveal a glimpse into the relationship between Clinton and the producer now accused of sexually harassing or assaulting abusing dozens of women. At least three women have accused Weinstein of rape, while other victims describe being forced to watch while the film producer masturbated in front of them. “As time…

Hillary deflects: ‘a different side of a person who I, and many others, had known in the past’

Hillary Clinton gave an interview to CNN’s Fareed Zakaria which is set to air this weekend but portions of the conversation were released yesterday. In case you’ve somehow become convinced that Hillary lost last year because of Comey and Russia and misogyny and all the rest, this clip will remind you of what a terrible politician she is. All she has to do here is express (or feign) shock and then repeat that she just didn’t know. A good politician could probably even gain some sympathy out of this over the sense…

Hotel disputes report Las Vegas police were not immediately notified of gunfire

Dems Introduce Bill To Ban High-Capacity Magazines

Democratic lawmakers are introducing a bill that would permanently ban the sale, transfer or possession of high-capacity magazines in the United States, without exception. The bill, championed by Rep. Elizabeth Esty of Connecticut, is expected to levy a ban on transferring, importing or possessing high-capacity magazines that hold in excess of 10 rounds of ammunition, The Guardian reports. As it stands, American gun owners can legally purchase magazines with 15, 30 and even 100 rounds. Democratic lawmakers are likely putting forth the legislation in response to the gruesome attack in Las…
